oh baby

You may have seen Make The Girl Dance’s latest video, “Baby Baby Baby” hitting YouTube and blogs as it features three censored women walking around downtown Paris with a boombox.

If you are a fan of Yelle, you are used to this sort of music (and content) but for those of you who aren’t, any ideas as to what the song is talking about?  I was kind of curious myself and found this (via Et Musique Por Tous):

The song is basically a play on French music/television culture – all the lyrics start with Je Veux or I want and the girl makes a huge list of all the silly but very amusing things she wants…

“I Want to be in Justice’s top playlist, have Gaspard’s hand on my thigh.”

“Je veux etre dans le top de Justice, la main de Gaspard sur ma cuisse.”

They go on to further translate the rest of the lyrics.  An interesting concept, but it probably wouldn’t have reached as many listeners if it had not been accompanied with the music video.

“I want to have Sebastien Tellier on my Ipod ; I want your Mom’s credit card ; I want your dad’s car ; I want to go out with your friends ; I will wear my cutest panties ; I want a hot sex session ; You can look but you can’t touch.

I want to be in Justice top friend ; Gaspard’s hand on my thigh ; I want to be able to count without my fingers ; And I want yours in the right spot ; I don’t want to take the stairs ; Carry me in your arms then ; I want to be the only person on pictures ; And I want to model for Yves Saint Laurent ; I want geniuses as children ; And I want my dog to graduate ; I want your head on a tray ; I want mine on TV.

I dont want a piece of cake, I just want blow ; I dont want Kate, I want Ethan Hawke ; I want to jump off of big ladder ; do as you can for the rainbow ; i want chocolate and vanilla flavoured ice cream ; i want your balls to be blueberry flavoured ; I want to dance like Vanessa Paradis ; I want to see her boyfriend at Ibiza (ie Johnny Depp) ; I want to be asleep when you wake up ; and I want Yelle’s tshirt ; I want to fit in all my jeans ; and I want you to make me presents with your pay check ; I want ice cubes in my glass ; I want to make your grandma smoke weed ; I saw your stupid ex blah blah blah”

Some stupid things (I want to be in Justice’s top playlist), some noble things (I want my dog to graduate), and plenty of other things I’m not quite sure how to classify.

join the cool cats movement

Bustling on every blog is mention of the new Cool Cats “Le Lookbook”.  And don’t get me wrong, it is great.  So-Me never seems to dissapoint.  But while Le Lookbook is great, it was missing one key piece.

Remember when Busy P and Kanye were seen wearing this print on a mint green sweatshirt?  It looks like the t-shirt dropped and is already sold out on the Cool Cat’s online store.  Such a shame.

You can check out the Le Lookbook here.  These are some of my favorites:

I didn’t post it but the “Prom Night” tee is definitely a sleeper.

welcome to the club

I’m all for limited edition items, and I definitely love So-Me’s artwork.  But $56 for the Club Coke limited edition case and bottle designed by So-Me and Justice?  No thanks.

I was going to buy just the bottle for $4 from Colette – until I saw the shipping would make it around $30.  And it is such a shame as So-Me, Justice, and Coke have really come up with something great.  Why not release it in limited markets worldwide much like Mountain Dew does with artist cans?

some new tunes

Midfield General’s “Disco Sirens” is a song I just listened to and am definitely feeling it.  Xavier from Justice does the bass and drums on the track – so you know it’s going to be hot.

Personally, I like the Blacklight Flashlight Remix the best.  Check it out and download it here from Ohh Crap!
