Beyonce’s gotten curvier (for the better)…no?  Oh, and shots of Kanye’s Louis V. boat shoes as well.

don’t act like i never told ya

Glad to see my prediction was right regarding the naming for Kanye West’s collaboration with Louis Vuitton.

From my blog (March 12th, 2009)

And here is Kanye’s post (May 22, 2009):

Nobody seems to be wearing them, and I can’t seem to find any of the shoes on the website.  With all the hype around the Yeezy’s, people seem to have forgot about these.

a lambskin….skateboard

April 28, 2009 · 1 Comment

Natalia Brilli is a designer with an interest in wrapping everything in leather.  I actually was looking for one of their products last night (a black leather watch covered entirely in leather – even the face) or else I might not have seen this article on Selectism.  With form dictating function, it seems like Natalia Brilli has wrapped another object in lambskin – a skateboard.

How long until somebody with way too much money and not enough common sense skates this?  That is of course after they’ve kickflipped and nose grinded with their Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse deck.

Definitely a cool idea that belongs hung on a wall, I just hate the idea of this getting used.

mr. murakami madness

April 13, 2009 · 2 Comments

So much news about Murakami today!  First, I thought the post was going to be about his feature in the newest issue of Casa Brutus, which features his exhibition in Bilbao.  And the issue is including a plate that Murakami designed as well (just like those placemats he did for LV).  I’m going to attempt to track down a copy but it’s probably going to be a challenge.

Here’s a detail of the plate -

And then I read about Mr. Murakami’s upcoming collaboration with Louis Vuitton.  While the pieces from “Multicolore Spring Pallete” won’t release until April 28th, a video teaser has surfaced courtesy of SlamXHype:

And finally, one of Takashi’s protege is coming out with a clothing collaboration of his own with Lucien Pellat-Finet.  Mr. (who has also collaborated with Supreme on a set of desks) has a similiar superflat style, albeit with an almost Speed Racer twist?  See for yourself.

I wouldn’t mind picking up some of Mr.’s bedding with a few Murakami pillows.

infiniti x louis vuitton

March 20, 2009 · 1 Comment

Louis Vuitton and Infiniti worked together on the Infiniti Essence concept.  With over 600hp and custom Louis Vuitton luggage in the trunk, this car approaches perfection in all regards.

It’s definitely channeling an Aston Martin type vibe but I think it’s gorgeous.

brush your shoulders off

March 17, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Transitioning from a very Hypebeast look to ultra lux, it seems as though Kanye West has gone full circle.  Constantly in the headlines for one thing or another, lately it has been for his recent fits and girlfriend Amber Rose.  Here are a few of my favorites:

1

With the Monogramoflage bag and Louis V Don’s for their unveiling in Paris.

Rocking his ever present denim jacket and the same duffel as before.  This fit definitely persuaded me to get a pair of the Sperry x Band of Outsider boots.

More streetwear-vibe with a varsity jacket and CDP (presumably) Jordan Bred IVs.

‘Ye blends street fashion and hi-end fashion in a way most people would look like idiots doing.  And 97% of the time, he is looking very fresh.  Whether or not you like his music or politics or persona, I think you’ll have to agree that he is one of the best dressed celebrities (and definitely best dressed musician).

i’m breaking my piggy bank now

March 12, 2009 · 1 Comment

The elusive Kanye West x Louis Vuitton sneakers are finally priced.  And even previous estimates were quite a bit short of these price tags:

Yes, that is in dollars.  $840 gets you in the door and $1140 tops off this collaboration.  Wow.

I’m personally feeling:

Oh, and there is quite a bit of speculation regarding the naming.  The Don’s are rumored to be either for Kanye himself or his close friend, Don C.  My personal opinion?

Kanye is going to drop his own shoe last.  He’s got Mr. Hudson’s (an artist on GOOD), Jasper’s (his hair stylist/stylist) and Don’s – it doesn’t make sense for him not to shout out to his boy.  I’m wondering who else they will be named after…is a Cudi a possibility?

too many kicks to kount

March 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Haven’t posted any shoes lately but you have to know that everybody has been producing some heat.  We’ll start with the oldest, the much hyped KWest x Louis Vuitton hi-tops.

Pink midsole and gold tassle swagger:

And these are more on the KVA/Dior Homme vibe:

Funny to see all the skeptics loving these right now.  Should have expected it.  Via Beast.

Making a ton of buzz right now following the completion of the Countdown packs is this Raging Bull package from Jordan Brand.  Instead of continuing the retro theme they are throwing new materials and colorways on two pairs of Jordan Vs – one red suede and the other charcoal suede.  Both shoes feature 3M on the tongue and the regular details you’d expect.  Although only this low-res photos have surfaced thus far, don’t be surprised if Air Randy comes up with a hi-res photo soon.

Via Nicekicks.

And you can’t deny the sick Undefeated exclusives, but I get kind of sick of Cali and NY being the only places getting love from big names.  St. Alfreds has gotten collabo’d kicks with Reebok before, and now LDRS has a very very limited edition shoe produced by Nike.

I’m not a big fan of the Nike Huarache 2K8 anyway but that’s some heat at only 24 pairs produced.

Thanks LDRS for holding down the Midwest (Nike – give St. Alfreds an exclusive too).

Via Nice Kicks.

Not to mention those Footaction AF1s, new Vans Vault Chukka Boot Cups and the onslaught of Visvim drops.

you’re going to need drug money to buy the “blow”

February 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment

KVA and Dior Homme are continuing to impress with the release of their “Blow” sunglasses.  I posted about these a month ago and they’ve finally dropped (and in a few new colors).  What’s the verdict now?

Still pretty unwearable.  The pink ones are completely out there, and even blue or black make it look like you are channeling ski goggles.  While a bit more than the price tag on these (I’d guess around 5 bills), the Louis Vuitton Millionaires are the end all be all of sunglasses.

what is goyard?

January 14, 2009 · 1 Comment

A lot of you are probably unfamiliar with the French trunkmaker (aka luggage maker) Goyard.  A little known fact about the brand is that it was actually established a full year before Louis Vuitton.  Recently, they’ve been receiving more exposure from some of hip-hops stars, most notably Lupe Fiasco.

0712_lupe_8004The bag (item 4) is a Goyard duffle.  And side note – Lupe is repping Chicago with the STA tee.

Anyway, maybe indirectly as a result, Goyard has been getting busy with the luxbeast (I just coined that term) featuring the Assouline x Goyard limited edition trunk and most recently, laptop sleeve.

The trunk features 100 books from Assouline of famous fashion houses (Dior, Chanel, etc).  You can stick pick one up from Revolve Clothing for 20 large – no word on whether a discount code will work (joking).

And today Hypebeast had these photos of a Goyard laptop sleeve:

Retail is set at a hefty $830.  Honestly, I wouldn’t waste money on a really nice laptop sleeve.  I think if I bought this sleeve I’d have to buy another case just to protect this one.

In my opinion, the Original Fake x Arkitip x InCase is still the king.  And no hate on other computer manufacturers, but you bought a Goyard to protect a Dell?  This case deserves a MacBook Air or new aluminum at minimum.
